In
less than three
years Hpnotiqsoundz
has become a force
to be reckoned with
on South Florida’s
social scene. The
youthfulness of
the sound however,
isn’t a true
representation of
the experience,
dedication, versatility
or talent of its
members. Entrepreneurs,
promoters, DJ’s
and producers, Marvelus
and Palmer Stylez,
the founders and
main selectors of
Hpnotiqsoundz have
over 15 years of
combined experience
in the sound system
business.
Why
Hpnotiqsoundz? –
“We didn’t
want a typical sound
system name, so
Hpnotiqsoundz was
perfect. Now when
we play at a venue,
we hypnotize the
crowd, especially
the ladies! We put
them in a trance,
getting their attention
and having them
focus on us.”
- Marvelus
Marvelus
is the man behind
the vibrant selections
and Palmer Stylez
controls the microphone
and delivers the
hype and often times
comical speech to
compliment the music.
Both young men spent
their early years
in Jamaica and it
was there they developed
their love and passion
for music. Marvelus
who grew up in Montego
Bay sharpened his
musical skills on
his fathers oldies
set, and then developed
a love for Dancehall,
as he got older.
With other family
members involved
in the music industry,
it was a natural
progression for
him. Palmer Stylez
acquired his early
musical influences
while growing up
in Kingston and
like most in the
industry was surrounded
by the strong influence
of many of Jamaica’s
top sound systems.
“You
can’t forget
your past, and I
always say that
your history can’t
be a mystery, you
have to know you’re
history to truly
understand and love
what you’re
doing.”
– Palmer Stylez
In
the mid 90’s
Marvelus & Palmer
Stylez migrated
to South Florida
and it was here
that their skills
really developed.
Prior to forming
Hpnotiqsoundz Marvelus
played with Sweetness
and Black Shadow,
while Palmer Stylez
played with Riddim
Styles and Black
Chiney sound systems.
It would almost
seem that destiny
would have the two
meet and become
friends, painting
a legacy that is
sure to leave many
speechless. It is
this foundation
and history that
charts their journey
through the present
and maps their path
for the future.
They add spice to
every event they
play at and possess
the insatiable talent
of incorporating
every essence and
genre of music,
thus rendering them
flexible in every
arena and enabling
them to play for
any audience. No
song has to be "the
hype" at the
time for them to
have the crowd going
wild.
Already
during their short
career on the sound
circuit, Hpnotiqsoundz
has appeared alongside
some big names in
both Reggae and
Hip Hop. They appeared
in the “Get
Low Remix”
music video featuring
Little John, Busta
Rhymes, Ying Yang
Twins and Elephant
Man, appearing in
three scenes in
the video, deejaying
on the Jamaican
side of the club.
With consistent
dates in South Florida
and a growing catalogue
of National and
International dates,
Hpnotiq is gradually
becoming a recognized
name in the entertainment
Industry. What would
seem to many as
a fast rise to fame,
to Hpnotiq is merely
just reward for
years of hard work.
Appreciative of
their success, Hpnotiq
strives to remain
humble and true
to themselves while
consistently giving
the best.
Hpnotiqsoundz
is backed by a strong
management, public
relations and administrative
team comprising
of Stephen “Gibbo”
Gibson, Rohan “Kat”
Semoy and Deborah
Smith. Together
they have a vast
portfolio of knowledge,
experience in the
entertainment industry
and the creativity
and technology to
keep Hpnotiq a step
ahead at all times.
Each member of the
Hpnotiq camp plays
a vital roll in
the growth and development
of the sound and
share the common
goal of making Hpnotiqsoundz
one of the most
sought after sound
systems in the world.
“The
vibes that we’re
getting are very
positive. We just
want to big up all
the genuine people
who helped us along
the way and all
the people who like
what Hpnotiqsoundz
is all about, even
the negative ones
who help to make
us more aggressive
and determined to
succeed. We’re
here and we’re
doing our thing!”

Stylez
